ELM axes job scamster
Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) through their Spokesperson Stanley Gaba has confirmed the axing of their former Traffic Department Superintended Noma Ellen Fortuin who was at the forefront of a job scam which saw over 60 people paying approximately 400 000 to secure a position at ELM.
Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) through their Spokesperson Stanley Gaba has confirmed the axing of their former Traffic Department Superintended Noma Ellen Fortuin who was at the forefront of a job scam which saw over 60 people paying approximately 400 000 to secure a position at ELM.
Gaba says, “The municipality wishes to place on record that the disciplinary hearing instituted against Fortuin, found her guilty and subsequently dismissed her.”
Gaba further confirms that Fortuin was found guilty on all 11 charges placed against her including act of bribery or corruption, gross negligence putting the municipality into disrepute and failure to conduct herself with honesty and integrity.”
“As the municipality, we want to appeal to all members of the public who were defrauded by the said person to contact the South African Police Services to open up criminal charges. The municipality is not in a position to refund or employ them as Fortuin was not working per the directive or instruction of the municipality.”
“We wish to thank every person who voluntarily assisted the municipality to conclude this matter in a dignified manner. The municipality remains focused on rooting out corruption and fraud in its ranks. It is imperative to indicate that the municipality remains professional and committed to deliver on its broader mandate. “ Gaba concludes
