VANDERBIJLPARK. – ER24 reported that one man has been killed and two others injured this afternoon September 2 after a light motor vehicle rear-ended another on the N1 near the Vanderbijlpark off-ramp.
ER24 paramedics, along with various other services, arrived on the scene at 12h50 and found both vehicles on the side of the road. Both vehicles had sustained a large amount of damage in the collision. On assessment, paramedics found the body of a man in his 30s lying in the middle of the slow lane. Assessments showed that the man had sustained numerous, fatal injuries. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene. Two other patients, both men, had been injured in the collision, one critically. Paramedics treated both patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, both patients were transported to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.
It is believed that one of the light motor vehicles had stopped in the emergency lane beneath the bridge. All three men had climbed out and were standing next to their vehicle when the collision occurred. The diver of the second vehicle, a woman, fortunately escaped without injury. Local authorities will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the collision. Russel Meiring- ER24 Spokesperson.
