VANDERBIJLPARK. The SAPS reported in a media statement that a well informed and empowered community is what we, as Vanderbijlpark SAPS, strive towards, as we keep fighting the good fight against crime. Such a well informed community are more alert and detour criminals. The following weekend crime and crime trends were reported.
CRIME IN GENERAL
Last month our crime increased although our house break in decreased.
Housebreaking cases and business breaking
House breaking affected areas such as Bophelong Ext.1, Ext.9, CE5, CW6 SE1, SE2, SE3 and SE4. Items such as plasma TV’s, jewelry, cash, firearms, laptops and 10 taps were stolen.
House robbery
Happened in SE3 at about 03:50 early the morning when the complainant was called by his kid telling him they have been robbed. On his arrival he found that five (5) suspects got into the house pointed the kids with a firearm and robbed the house bedding stuff, clothes and an Apple I Phone.
Business breaking
The school was affected again in Bophelong where a gas stove was stolen. 2nd business breaking happened in CW4 where the store was broken into cigarettes, airtime vouchers and cash were stolen.
Business robbery
Happened in Bophelong Ext.12 where four (4) unknown suspects arrived at the tavern pretending to be customers who are there to drink. Suspects drank few beers the owner went to change the money that they bought with that I when the suspects produced firearms robbed the business cash, cell phone, pair of shoes and a handbag. The suspects are estimated to be in their fifties (50’s). Second business robbery happened in CE3 where three unknown suspects robbed the shop the airtime machine
Murder
Happened in Mantevrede plots where the deceased and the suspect were at the drinking place where a quarrel ensued and the suspect stabbed the victim on his arm and the victim died few metres from the scene of crime.
Robbery aggravating
Happened in Bophelong Ext.9 where the victim and his friend were chased by suspects who robbed them cash and a cell phone at gun point.
RWF
Happened in the CBD where the victim was on his way to the Taxi rank when he was approached by the suspect who was holding a broken beer bottle ordered her to give her, her cell phone the suspect fled away all of this happened at about 18:30. A 2nd incident happened in Donges Street CE4 at about 18:35 when the victim was walking in Donges to Boipatong when the suspect approached the victim and told the victim not to scream or else he will injure her suspect requested the victims cell phone that is when the victim gave the suspect the phone. Suspect ran towards Sharpeville direction. The 3rd incident happened in Morees Street SE7 at about 23:40 victim was walking alone and was approached by three (3) unknown suspects who threaten to stab him, first suspect took the victims Adidas cap and second suspect searched him took his cell phone.
Theft of motor vehicle
White Isuzu pick up, silver BMW, red VW Golf 4, Sentra Visson, Toyota Corolla, VW Citi Golf, Toyota Conquest, Isuzu bakkie, white VW Golof and Big Boy scooter were stolen over the weekend.
Theft from motor vehicle
Happened in Edison Blvd CE6 a VW Amarok spare wheel was stolen.
Carjacking
We had two carjacking over this weekend 1st incident happened in the CBD at about 21:15 where the victim was stopped by the car that was flashing blue lights on the dash board when he stopped, suspects asked him for his driver’s licence and told him he is a wanted man started assaulting him and tied him to the back of their car, covered his face drove with him till they reached an ATM demanded his pin code and when he gave them a wrong one he was assaulted again till he gave them the correct pin they withdrew R3000.00 cash covered him again on his face drove with him to a destination of the East Rand the victim was released the following day at 09:30. In this matter I will urge the community to drive straight to the police station press the hooter that will draw the police attention. A 2nd carjacking took place in SE7 where the victim was waiting for someone when he saw 4 unknown males jumping of the Isuzu bakkie pointed him with firearms and the suspects drove off with the victims Toyota Corolla.
SUCCESSES
The Vanderbijlpark SAPS managed to arrest a total of 33 people over the weekend for various crimes. 3 illegal shebeens were closed, 5 people were arrested for driving under the influence and 6 people arrested for drugs.
