SEDIBENG. – Lucia Jakeni (26) is a girl with big dreams. Jakeni is currently living it up in the SA Idols’ house along with 15 other contestants who, just like her, made it into this year’s top 16.
“My dreams are very big. I want to see myself prosper.” Giving up is not something that exists in Jakeni’s world as she auditioned twice before she made it into the top 16.
It is not the first time that Jakeni has been in the spotlight as she was also in the popular Clash of the Choirs competition where her group came in second.
“I am happy I made it through. This means that I have potential and the Idols team saw that.” Jakeni’s strategy is to do songs that accentuate her voice. “I just want to be myself,” she concludes, adding that her dad is her role model.
Musically she looks up to singers such as Thandiswa Mazwai and Malehloka ‘Maleh’ Hlalele. “I am thankful for the support I have received so far. Please stay alert for the latest voting information and keep on voting for me,” Jakeni concludes.
