Unconfirmed message about a new township next to Three Rivers East
Vaalweekblad received the information below from more than 20 concerned residents tonight. We could not get comment from local government yet and at this stage we don't have confirmation that the content is correct. If anyone has more information, please let us know? As tomorrow (14 November) is the last day for objections, we post this message without comment or confirmation for now.

MESSAGE ON SOCIAL MEDIA:
There is a “Township Development” application that has been submitted to the Midvaal Local Municipality. This development, which will be located directly on the Vaal Dam road, will also be located directly adjacent to Three Rivers East’s residences and across from Eligwa Estates. The plans are for 4200 plots and houses, of which they will begin with Phase 1 with 2,000 homes directly behind Three Rivers East on the water tower’s side. Stands will be just a tad bigger than 300 sq meters. In addition, four (4) schools, 6 (six) taxi ranks, a shopping centre and a sewerage plant on the river, etc., is also planned. People have time to object against this development until next week Monday 14th November 2016 Our roads in Three Rivers will not cope with this development. Likewise, it will have a major impact on our infrastructure, which may result in further pollution of our rivers amongst other, such as, but not inclusive of, an increase in crime. People can go on the website **see attached form for links to the site** where the required information, as well as the plans of the development, is available. The developers did not obtain sufficient public participation from Emfuleni and/or Three Rivers’ residents, and accordingly this development cannot proceed without everyone’s input. It is therefore strongly recommended that as many people as possible urgently raise their objections against this development and forward it to the developer by no later than Monday, 14th November 2016. To simplify it for everyone concerned, the attached form has been provided for printing and completion. **DRINGEND – AANDAG ASSEBLIEF** Daar is ‘n “Township Development” aansoek ingedien by die Midvaal Stadsraad. Dié ontwikkeling, wat direk op die Vaaldam pad geleë gaan wees, gaan ook direk na Drie Riviere Oos se huise en oorkant Eligwa Estates geleë wees. Daar word beplan vir 4200 erwe en huise, waarvan daar begin sal word met Fase 1 met 2000 huise direk agter Drie Riviere Oos aan die watertoringkant. Erwe gaan net groter as 300 vk meter wees. Verder word 4 (vier) skole, 6 (ses) taxi ranks, ‘n winkelsentrum, asook ‘n riool aanleg teen die rivier, ens., ook beplan. Mense het tyd om beswaar te maak teen hierdie ontwikkeling tot volgende week, Maandag die 14de November 2016 Ons paaie in Drie Riviere gaan nie hierdie ontwikkeling kan dra nie. So ook gaan dit n groot impak hê op ons infrastruktuur, wat verdere besoedeling van ons riviere kan meebring asook vele ander aspekte soos, maar nie net insluitend, ‘n toename in misdaad. Mense kan op die webwerf gaan **sien aangehegte vorm vir links na die webwerf** waar die nodige inligting asook die planne van die ontwikkeling beskikbaar is. Daar was nie voldoende “public participation” van die ontwikkelaars met Emfuleni en Drie Riviere se inwoners gedoen nie, en hierdie ontwikkeling kan nie net aangaan sonder almal se insette nie. Daar word dus sterk aanbeveel dat soveel as moontlik mense dringend hulle besware teen hierdie ontwikkeling sal deurgee en registreer by die ontwikkelaar by die 14de November. Om dit te vergemaklik vir almal wat betrokke is, is die aangehegde vorm voorsien vir afdruk en voltooiing.
