WEEKEND CRIME AND SUCCESSES
A well informed and empowered community is what we, as Vanderbijlpark SAPS, strive towards, as we keep fighting the good fight against crime. Such a well informed community are more alert and detour criminals. The following weekend crime and crime trends were reported.
CRIME IN GENERAL
House robbery, rape, shoplifting and theft of motor vehicle has increased, although our house breakings, murders and business breakings have decreased.
Housebreaking cases and business breaking
Houses were broken in Bophelong Ext.3, CE5, SE1, SE6 and SE7 items such as Tv’s, DVD, play station, mountain bike, gas braai, steel pot, lawnmower, bush cutter, bicycles and chairs were stolen.
NB. We will also like to urge our community and businesses to write down serial numbers of their items, e.g. TV’s, laptops, music system etc. for tracing back of the recovered items to be handed back to the rightful owner.
Murder
We had a murder and suicide in the Vanderbijlpark Cemetery where the boyfriend murdered the girlfriend and committed suicide. Both the deceased were found in the car parked at the cemetery. It is alleged that the suspect kidnapped the lady from her work place in Sebokeng. More details can be enquired from Capt. Robbery without a firearm
Happened in Vanderbijlpark Cemetery the victim went to visit his wife’s grave when he was approached by two unknown suspects, who threatened him with a knife robbed him his cash and a cell phone. It has come to our attention that our grave site has turned into a criminals pit, we are urging our community to help us in fighting this crime, neighbourhood watches are needed in this regard. Community can arrange with the sector manager on how to fight these kind of crimes at our cemetery.
Rape
Rpe took place in Bophelong Ext.17 two female ladies were walking alone at night when they were approached by 4 unknown suspects who robbed them their cell phones, one victim managed to escaped when her friend was left behind the suspects raped her.
Theft of motor vehicle
Theft of motor vehicle has increased VW was the most stolen vehicle over the weekend. A white Toyota Corolla was stolen in Bophelong Ext.18, silver Mercedes Benz stolen in the CBD, white VW Polo Vivo stolen in CE6, silver VW Polo GTI stolen in CW1, red VW Golf stolen in CW3, metallic silver VW Polo stolen in SW5, white Toyota Tazz stolen in SW5 and a trailer stolen in Mantevrede Plots.
Theft out of motor vehicle\ theft from motor vehicle
Car battery, amplifier and speakers were stolen from the vehicle in Bophelong Ext.11. Four Ford Fiesta mag wheels were stolen, in the same yard the Mercedes Benz was broken into a car radio, scanner, printer and computers were stolen in SE3.
SUCCESSES
The Vanderbijlpark SAPS managed to arrest a total of 29 people over the weekend for various crimes. 1 person for drugs, 1 shebeen closed and 13 people arrested for driving under influence.
Warning !!!
It has come to our attention that our community late report some of the cases and this has raised a serious concern as it really affects our detection rate of possible suspect and some of the cases are false cases, people trying to cover themselves with lies. Let us seriously warn the community pertaining these cases, police will open acase of perjury against the alleged victim as it is a false case, abuse of state resources as we should be investigating serious crimes, when people decide to open false cases.

Community to be alert at the white VW Polo with 5 unknown African male suspects who are robbing the community at the ATM’s they were spotted in different shopping complexes in Vanderbijlpark.
