South African Breweries (SAB) announced the winners in its 37th annual SAB Sports Media Awards last week Thursday – and among the best performers is Vaalweekblad’s own Sports Editor, Ettienne van Rensburg.

He was the winner in the category: Action Shot of the Year.

Ettienne van Rensburg, previously from Beeld, competed against representatives of the country’s largest media groups such as SASPA, EPA SABC, Beeld, Rapport, eNCA, Supersport and many daily newspapers.

An expert independent judging panel selected the winners within each of the 17 categories.

“At SAB we believe that sport plays a powerful role in empowering individuals and bringing positive change to communities. We are committed through our company strategy to improving lives. Equally important is appreciating the work that goes into reporting and analysing sporting news. We appreciate the light the sporting media shines on sport events. It is important that they are recognised for excellence in this sphere,” says Robyn Chalmers, Director: Communications, SAB and AB InBev Africa.

MooiVaal Media proudly congratulates Ettienne on his exceptional achievement.
