Disgraced former ELM mayor Mofokeng out on R10 000 bail

He was answering to charges of possession of child pornography and also exposing a minor to adult pornography. Mofokeng allegedly accidentally posted an image of a 14-year-old girl wearing nothing but her underwear on a general ANC WhatsApp group last year. Mofokeng is the current regional Chairperson of the African National Congress (ANC). A restraining order issued by the courts protects the girl and her family against the accused.

“The wheels of justice have now definitely started to turn. His arrest is long overdue,” said excited residents while others said they did not believe that Mofokeng personally exposed the minor but that this was a clear set-up ahead of the regional conference. “For him to say he wanted a fifth term as Chairperson, might not have gone down well with his opponents,” said an ANC regional top brass who asked to remain anonymous. Mofokeng also served as Sedibeng District Municipality executive mayor.  He is out on R10 000 bail.
