VEREENIGING. – ER24 reports that one man was killed and two others sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious after two bakkies collided on the R82 in Vereeniging this morning.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene just before 11H00, they found two bakkies in the road. Upon further assessment, paramedics found the driver of the one bakkie showing no signs of life. He was declared dead on the scene.
The driver of the other bakkie was entrapped in his vehicle and the fire brigade had to extricate the man using the jaws of life. The man sustained serious injuries and he was airlifted to hospital by the ER24 Oneplan helicopter. Another man sustained moderate injuries and was transported to hospital by the provincial EMS.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not yet known to our paramedics but police were on the scene for further investigations.
