Barnard brings back bronze!
Jean-Heinrich Barnard(18), a Grade 12 learner from Hoërskool Transvalia, seen here in action, took part in the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports (IWAS) World Junior Games in Stadskanaal, Holland earlier in July and ended his first international campaign with an overall bronze medal in the under-20 field events category.

Jean-Heinrich Barnard, who lost his right leg in a road accident in 2013, grabbed second place in the F44 shot put event with a personal best of 9.08 meters. Jean-Heinrich and his South African team mate, Tiaan Nuyzer from Rustenburg, secured another two podiums for the SA team in the F44 discus item with Barnard throwing another personal best distance of 27 meters for first, with Huyzers in for second place with a distance of 24 meters. Barnard was last week welcomed back in South Africa by his proud friends and family.
