‘n Inwoner van Kookrus, Meyerton, is ingesluit in die Suid-Afrikaanse rolstoel-basketbalspan.  Christaan Bronkhorst gaan binnekort as deel van die span in Dubai deelneem.

The challenges of disadvantaged people are expanded when one is disabled and unfortunately indicative of stereotypic ideas of society the disabled tend to suffer the consequences of not only being financially challenged, but disadvantaged in many social aspects of life.
To assist and stand forward for the disabled takes someone with a great fortitude and commitment to dedicate towards the plight of bettering people with different abilities. We therefore cannot compromise this part of society, and encourage with your knowledge and skills in embracing a partnership to improving the quality of life for the disabled and in particular, athletes who display elite skills. It is the objective of Wheelchair Basketball South Africa to develop the sport of basketball on all levels providing a platform for enhancing player ability and life skills.
However, this objective can only be met with financial commitments facilitated through Government and Corporate investment and sponsorship of equipment and high performance programs ensuring such sustainability.
We take this opportunity to request assistance in financial aid in the supply of wheelchair equipment.
All sportsmen use the utility of specialized equipment and a wheelchair basketball athlete is of no exception. A specialized chair built to the balance of the disabled athlete is their tool of the trade. The better the manufacture of the chair, designed to facilitate the level of disability & weight distribution, allows dexterity and freedom of maneuverability. This enhances the athlete’s chair skills and results in better performance.
The involvement in wheelchair basketball is not only to focusing on building athletes in terms of performance, but it goes beyond that into boosting the persons morale and most of all, giving them the ability to overcome their disabilities and a feel of self-worth and integration into society.

Christaan Bronkhorst is a 26-year-old disabled paraplegic wheelchair basketball athlete who has dedicated
his time and efforts to represent South Africa on the world arena. He is but one of the 16 elite athletes
identified to hold not only South Africa, but also Africa’s flag at the World Championships and beyond.
