Another water cut for Emfuleni – do you have water?

On 17 May 2018, Rand Water informed the Emfuleni Local Municipality indicating its decision to reduce by 20-percent, its supply of bulk potable water to the Municipality.

This decision is a credit control action to compel the Municipality to meet its obligations to settle amounts due to Rand Water for water services rendered.

We have noted that the Municipality has failed to honour agreements made in a series of meetings held to settle outstanding amounts due to Rand Water.

The full balance due by the Municipality to Rand Water is R 484 236 054. 00.

The reduction in water pressure was effected yesterday, 22 May 2018.

Despite the above-mentioned water supply reduction, Rand Water is confident that the quality of water supplied to the Municipality is safe for human consumption.

“However, the management of the municipality reticulation network and the distribution of water to its customers remains the responsibility of the Emfuleni Local Municipality,” says Justice Mohale, Media Relations Manager of Rand Water.
