Vacant land in Vaal Dam still in demand

It is easy to see why Vaal Dam properties are attractive options to prospective investors. Views from the waterfront real estate properties are simply spectacular, the area offers property owners a wealth of lifestyle and leisure activities right on their doorstep, a peaceful atmosphere, and most of all, a sound opportunity for capital appreciation.

Despite the economic hardships, vacant land at the Vaal Dam have ready pool of buyers looking to snap up quality homes close to the water. “Increased buyer confidence in the market and value for money is fuelling property sales in the area, coupled with the high desirability of having water sport activities right on your doorstep, without having to travel all the way to the coast,” said Phil Medlock, Pam Golding Properties area principal in the Vaal Dam and surrounds.

That the Vaal Dam offers good value for money, is evident in the number and prices of previously sold homes. According to Phil, vacant stands are being developed in the in the R400 000 to R600 00 price band, which makes a new offering of 22, two-hectare plots, starting at R350 000 very attractive, resulting in a number of stands immediately being reserved for purchase.

Phil says keen homebuyers, which are predominantly in the mid-30 to 50 age bracket, are tapping into the beachside haven that is safe and peaceful and just a two hour’s drive from the city. These vacant lands are located in Shearwater Lifestyle Estate, which is situated on a quiet part of the dam away from the main boating areas, affording an appealing, peaceful lifestyle ideal for numerous leisure activities such as walking, biking and fishing.

While many waterfront land across South Africa are outside the affordability bracket of a large majority of investors, the Vaal Dam is another matter, with the interest in top tier plots a positive indication of the market overall.
