Two suspects arrested for kidnapping and extortion

VANDERBIJLPARK. – On Saturday 03 November 2018 Sedibeng Flying Squad members together with Hostage Negotiator and Sebokeng SAPS detectives arrested two (02) suspects for kidnapping and extortion.

All above-mentioned members followed up the information which led to the area of Sharpeville. It is alleged that the kidnapper kept in contact with the mother through what’s App demanding money be paid over at Shoprite. The incident started on Friday night and the trail went cold; investigations resumed again on Saturday morning to search for the victim.

At about 10:00 in the morning members made a breakthrough and the victim was found as well as the kidnapper. The preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is known to the victim, it turned out to be his friend. They were both working together trying to extort money out of the victim’s family members. Both men were arrested. Members of the community are warned not to lay false charges because that is crime.  Reporting such false cases will have serious consequences. The two (02) suspects aged 24 and 26 will be appearing in the Sebokeng Magistrate court soon facing charges of kidnapping, extortion and defeating the ends of justice.
