VANDERBIJLPARK. – Playing at home Meyerton on Saturday maintained their unbeaten run in the local Saturday league by beating Old Vaal.
Meyerton batted first and scored 246/10. For Meyerton Tiaan Botha batted well scoring a good 65.
For Old Vaal Thabiso Ngojo took 4/68 and Dylan and he received great support from Aucamp who took 4/43.
Old Vaal started well with the bat and were 97/1 wicket when they had a batting collapse
and were bowled out for 152.
Ruan Havenga (42) and Thabiso Ngojo (54) were Old Vaal’s top batsmen. Marcelle Engelbrecht starred with the ball for Meyerton with figures of 5/12. He was well assisted by Charl Penning who claimed two wickets for 26 runs in his seven overs.
Vereeniging vs Vanderbijlpark
Vereeniging won the toss on Cecil Oldridge Park and elected to bowl first. They soon had Vanderbijlpark in trouble, thanks to a devastating opening bowling spell from Gerhard Dreyer (7.0-20-6).
The collapse was completed when Vanderbijl was bowled out for a dismal 55 in 16.3 overs. Kyle Clark took 2/31.
Vereeniging’s run-chase got off to the worst possible start when Hanno Koster (4.0-18-1) dismissed H Roelofse in the third over. Ockie Brits (26*) and Phillip Thompson (20*) however consolidated the innings and powered Vereeniging to a comfortable 9 wicket victory.
