HENLEY-ON-KLIP. – A local businesswoman is so incensed that she is collecting the signatures of residents.
The trader is incensed over the constant gathering of people she suspects are `vagrants’ who have now been busted twice by Police. Their habit is to gather around the Vasco shopping complex, which sports a cafeteria and a liquor store.
She accuses these noisy `vagrants’ of abusing liquor, playing loud music, selling illegal cigarettes and `other substances’, urinating in public, buying and selling various items to and from motorists.
They also pester residents for money and clearly surmise that restaurant-customers drinking at tables outside makes it okay to booze outside themselves.
A case has been opened and further developments pend Police investigation. The trader conducting the petition says they now tend to disappear the moment shops open. The peace and tranqility she identified 28 years ago has returned.
“We have taken photos and contacted the police, to no avail,” she reports, adding that these informal gatherings endanger older people and children.
