VEREENIGING. – Representatives of the Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC) recently spent time visiting most of the tourist destinations in the Vaal Triangle.
The main objective of the visit was to learn about how the Vaal has made use of the river to ensure that people coming from various places are attracted to this place that has such a rich and diverse history.
The group stayed at Sedibeng Guest House in Bedworth Park owned by Dr Joe Raputsoe over a couple of days where they were taken on a tour around the Vaal by Colonel Thabang Letlala of Thabang Malefane Transport Transfers Tourism and Car Hire (TMTTTCH).
Tsepang Hatase, an investment promoter from LTDC says, “Tourism can help grow the economy thus improving the lives of the people residing in that area. There are so many beautiful places in the Vaal Triangle and we were very impressed with all the places that we visited.”
Hatase said that there were a lot of similarities between the Vaal Triangle and their country.
Titi Thelejane, who is also the manager of Investment Promotions at LTDC, says that she sees a lot of potential in the Vaal’s tourism sector and also a lot of opportunities for the youth who would like to have careers in the tourism sector.
Raputsoe who has had the opportunity of living in many foreign countries over the years says it is important for Vaal’s tourism sector to maintain strong relationships with people from other areas who are in this sector as the exchange of information can bring growth and development. “It is especially important for the youth to be given training as they can benefit and learn a lot while visiting places such as Lesotho,” Raputsoe concludes.
