VEREENIGING. – Former Miss South Africa and Miss World, Dr Rolene Strauss (27), gives her audience a glimpse into her life, struggles and experiences through her first offering dubbed Reflections from the Heart.
The book is a year-long journey with Rolene, who shares what she has gone through before her breakthrough and realisation that she is more than enough.
The book touches on topics such as courage, choices, opportunity, relationships and letting go.
With the help of Christian Art in Vereeniging, her dream of launching her book has become a reality. The book which is available in both English (Reflections of the Heart) and Afrikaans (Vanuit die Hart) hits the shelves in October. “I realised that my identity lies not in a sash, a title or a degree. I also learned that one should not seek perfection in life as this is something that does not exist.”
Speaking on the importance of reflection, Rolene says, “Reflection is a very integral part of my journey. Reflection gives you an opportunity to learn from your mistakes. It is a powerful tool.”
Rolene invites readers to join her on a journey of self discovery, filled with pearls of wisdom.
“After reading the book, I hope that it changes someone’s life for the better, and that God plants a seed in your heart.
“I hope that it helps readers on their journey to become the healthiest and best you. This book is meant to help you reach your potential.”
Seeing that people had a perfect picture of her, she realised that she needed to speak out about her struggles as she was not helping anyone by keeping quiet.
“That is exactly what I want people to know about me. I’m human and I also go through struggles and it is fine, it’s alright.”
“This is a book about personal and spiritual growth, if the book can mean something to someone I have succeeded.”
After months of research and prayer, Rolene is now pursuing her Masters in Life Coaching.
“This will equip me to help other women regain their self confidence.”
Rolene has also recently launched a YouTube channel through which she gives audiences a glimpse of her personal life.
“The best advice I have received is to be private, but not secretive. I take this as an opportunity to be a role model. I appreciate the fact that people follow me.”
