Automobile dealers get food for thought at NADA’s roadshow
VANDERBIJLPARK. – While very little can be done to control the macro environment, dealers involved in the retail motor industry have the ability to control their own microenvironment.
This was one of the key take-outs from the National Automobile Dealers’ Association (NADA) Dealer Performance Programme (DPP)’s recent
workshop, held at the Riverside Sun in Vanderbijlpark.
The NADA DPP is a platform for individuals within the automobile franchise retail dealership environment to engage on a variety of issues related to improving dealership performance.
Delegates agreed that current times ask for specific focus: “Focus on what you do and do it with excellence”. “Now in its fifth year, the NADA DPP provides an opportunity for like-minded industry experts and franchise retail dealerships to network and participate in dialogue through relevant and challenging topics that have a direct impact on their businesses,” says NADA’s Director Gary McCraw.
“Targeted at dealer principals, the NADA DPP combines a series of high impact national roadshows which take place regionally. For the first time, the roadshow went to Gauteng South. Other regions include Gauteng North, Durban and Cape Town. “Its interactive workshops, panel discussions and
monthly communications contain important information for dealers to implement in daily processes,” adds McCraw.
The October programme was themed: Make Your 2020 Business Plan Work for You. Leading professional business planning consultant Greg Mason was the keynote speaker who shared his expert advice for best practice for strategy development, goal setting in a fresh and unique method,
leadership skills and guidance as to how to deliver an actionable and measurable business plan.
This was followed by a panel discussion involving respected Dealer Principals who shared the benefits of insights and effective business plans they implemented in their dealerships. Robust discussions and great audience participation also provided much food for thought.
Sponsors of the NADA DPP programme include Cars.co.za, Britehouse, Lightstone, NADA, Sewells Group-MSX International, traka ASSA ABLOY and
WesBank.
