Meyerton leads the charge

VANDERBIJLPARK. – Meyerton is still the only undefeated team in the Sedibeng First League after beating New Vaal Colliery in Meyerton by 8 wickets.
New Vaal batted first, scoring 134 all out. B Nortje took three wickets, S. Nyofane two wickets and S Lewitt two wickets for Meyerton. Meyerton, with D van der Berg (68), W. Botha (33*) and V. Taylor (21) at the helm, reached the target in the fifteenth over.
Rain interrupted the game between Vereeniging and Sasolburg. Vereeniging won on the Duckworth Lewis method. Sasol batted first scoring 184/8 with F Cronje (57*) top scoring. For Vereeniging O Brits took 3 wickets with P Venter and M Nel taking two wickets each. Vereeniging was on 134 when the game was stopped with B Ndimane scoring 46 runs.
In the local derby between Old Vaal and Vanderbijlpark, played at Old Vaaltonian, Vanderbijlpark won the toss and elected to bat. The visitors scored 204/4 in their allotted 35 overs. F Breedt (70) and P Meyer (45*) were Vanderbijlpark’s top batsmen. For Old Vaal J Peens was their best bowler, taking 2/16.
When bad light stopped the play, Old Vaal was on 109/4 after 17 overs. T Ngojo was the top scorer with 32 runs. M Stevens took 2/24 for the visitors. Old Vaal won the game according to the Duckworth Lewis method.
