Residents of Vanderbijlpark take to the streets to demand electricity

About 100 residents of various areas in Vanderbijlpark took to the streets to barricade Curie boulevard with burning tyres as they demand electricity.

To add salt on the wound, the angry community forced the police to make a u-turn for alternative road.

Bakkies were seen transporting tyres to add to the woes. However, Emfuleni municipality electric department is busy trying to install back electricity. No injuries or arrest even malicious were reported.

They further demanded to meet with the Mayor Gift Moerane.

However Cllr Piet Verbeek told them that as department busy trying to connect and repair, hopefully around 09.30 Thursday night there would be connection. The angry community threatened with continuing to close the road. They said this time even police should not try to intervene.
