Granny Ramakau (48) says that this has been ongoing for the past few years.
The manhole which is said to be problematic was erected by the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) in 2013. “Since the municipality erected this manhole here, we have had sewage overflowing down the street.
“The stench outside is unbearable. We can barely open our windows. Our kids and elderly are always sick. We really need help.” Ramakau says that she hopes the municipality will act swiftly to get a permanent solution to the problem.
