There has been a 28% increase in cases from yesterday

Minister of Health, Zweli Mkhize, confirmed that as of this morning, 25 March there are 709 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in South Africa.

This is an increase of 155 confirmed cases from yesterday.

Mkhize stated that there is an increase in cases from the Free State after churchgoers in Mangaung became infected. These are linked to a Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast which was hosted by the Divine Restoration Ministries in Bloemfontein.

He further stated that the Department of health urges people to not move around during the Easter Weekend, they need to be in the same location over this 3-week period. This lockdown is about stopping the mixing of people, Mkhize said.

As of today there are still no fatalities in South Africa, all patients are improving with only two patients currently in ICU.
