Decomposed body found in a pit toilet at a church in Zamdela

Four suspects, two Male and females aged between 30 and 58, charged with murder of a  26 years old woman, will make their first appearance before a Sasolburg Magistrate.

This follows the discovery of decomposed  human remains down a pit toilet at a Zamdela church.

According to Free State police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, at about 08:00, members of TRT Provincial Task Team and Zamdela Trio Task Team followed up on information about a reported missing person.The body of 34-year-old Mohanua Kobedi, who was last seen over a year ago, was found inside a pit toilet in Zamdela on Sunday, following an intelligence-driven operation.

Brigadier said the preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was strangled at her residential place.

The body will be sent for further forensic testing to confirm that it is indeed the body of Kobedi. Police were informed by a suspect that the body had been dumped down the pit toilet a year ago.

Apparently, the body had been concealed beneath a load of plastic soft drink bottles and conveyed to the pit toilet in a shopping trolley.
The suspect, who spoke to police to make it clear that he was not operating alone, further went on to identify the other three suspects.
According to Makhale all four suspects were known to the deceased. The suspects are expected to appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate court on Wednesday, the 1st of April 2020.
