5 to appear in Sasolburg Magistrate court for school burglary

FREE STATE.- Five suspects aged between 23 and 26 will appear in Sasolburg Magistrate court on Friday, 24 April 2020, on a charge of business burglary.

The incident happened at Katleho Mpumelelo Senior Secondary School, one of many schools that were broken into during Lock-down.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Sam Makhele said the value of stolen items is estimated to R250 000-00.

“On Tuesday, 21 April 2020 at about 18:30, members of the Tactical Response Team (TRT) Provincial Task Team and Zamdela Trio Task Team followed up on an intelligence driven information of business burglary. Investigation revealed the whereabouts of possible suspects.

Upon thorough questioning the first implicated suspect, information led members to different residence in Zamdela were suspected stolen items namely: One (01) Black Printer Copy Machine, Stationary, Sharp Scientific Calculators, Mathematical and Drawing Instruments were recovered,” Makhele said.

“Members then proceeded to Viljoenskroon were they recovered more suspected stolen items, i.e: Two (02) Gas Stove four plate, two (02) 18kg Gas and three (03) Big Silver Cooking Pots.”

Police are now investigating if the suspects were not involved in any other business burglary incidents elsewhere.
