Powerless: what a way to start the weekend!
VANDERBIJLPARK. - Residents of certain areas in town have had to start up generators once again, or try and make the best of the day without the luxury of electricity.

The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) has confirmed that power supply to most of the affected areas in Vanderbijlpark have been restored after a substation caught fire this morning. However Bophelong, Movhango, Bonane, Stephanopark and parts of NW7, CW 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 are still affected by the outage.
|”Electricity technicians are conducting tests on the transformer and feeder panel No. 1 affected by the Neutral Earthing Compensator (NEC) failure, to assess the extent of the damage. Additional tests will be done on Feeder Panel No.2 to check whether it was affected by the fault as well,”was stated in an update about the situation.
Provided that tests on Feeder Panel No.2 come out positive, some of the areas still affected by the outage will be restored.
ELM warned that for safety reasons, all electrical installations and connections must be treated as LIVE at all times.
- The municipality wishes to apologize for the inconvenience.
