Update on power outage in Vanderbijlpark
VANDERBIJLPARK. - The latest update surrounding the power outage in various areas, including CW-areas, is that test results concerning the damage caused during a fire at the infamous Curie Boulevard substation can be expected later this afternoon. It is believed that power will be restored by Sunday.

“The circuit breaker, NEC, CT, isolators and cables from the bay burned which also caused mage to a transformer. As a result the bay 3 will not be energized anytime soon due the work that needs done. The load will be moved to bay 2. Currently we are busy with transformer and protection testing of bay 2, oils samples have been sent to a lap. The other tests will continue today,” the official ELM update states.
“Only one transformer will be operating which will not be able to carry all the load. The municipality will therefore implement load shedding will repairing and replacing bay 3 equipment. The full schedule will be communicate later on.
“We apologies for the inconvenience. The municipality request patience during this difficult time and we will keep you updated on progress,” the updated concluded.
- Affected areas are Muvhango, NW7, part of CW areas, Bonanné and Mantrevrede.
