VANDERBIJLPARK. – ER 24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring reported that one man was killed and another seriously injured this morning 23 May after a shooting incident that took place in the parking of a mall on the R42 in the Vaal.
At 03:20 this morning, ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene after receiving the emergency call of the shooting. Upon arrival, paramedics found a security vehicle in the parking area surrounded by a number of Police officials. On closer inspection, paramedics found the driver of the vehicle lying motionless in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to his head. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his fatal injury and was declared dead on the scene. A second man was found lying outside the vehicle. The deceased is Mr. Tatayi Mile 47 years of age, and the survived member is Mr. Fana Letshele 40 years of age both were shot in the fidelity guard security company vehicle when they were shot at. The man was assessed and found to have sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder and was in a serious condition. ER24 and Provincial paramedics immediately began their treatment and provided the patient with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the man was transported by Provincial services to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The exact details surrounding the shooting is not yet known but is subject to the investigation of local authorities.
