Phuma’sbethane residents protest
A statement issued by the forum says, “We also demand to meet with Mr Thami Ka Plaatjie from the office of Housing Minister, Lindiwe Sisulu. People who bought the houses must be removed with immediate effect and rightful owners be allowed to occupy their houses.”

SHARPEVILLE.- Yet another protest demanding basic service delivery took place at Tshepiso-Steelpark Road last week.
This time the residents were mostly from the informal settlement of ‘Phuma’sbethane’, near George Thabe Stadium in Vuka who were protesting under the banner of the Vaal Triangle Community Forum.
Some of their demands are that people be provided with houses that they have applied for since 1996, that the approvals for housing for people that were issued in 2009 be implemented and that an investigation be conducted into allegations that there were government officials that sold houses illegally.
A statement issued by the forum says, “We also demand to meet with Mr Thami Ka Plaatjie from the office of Housing Minister, Lindiwe Sisulu. People who bought the houses must be removed with immediate effect and rightful owners be allowed to occupy their houses.”
Police were called to the scene and further protests were quelled, no arrests were reported as the road was quickly cleared of rubble, burning tyres and debris and opened for traffic.
