Two suspects to appear in Potchefstroom’s court for attempted murder

Potchefstroom: On Wednesday, 22 June 2016, two suspects aged 28 and 29 are expected to appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court  in connection with attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm.

The suspects’ court appearance came after their arrest yesterday, 20 June 2016 in Promosa and Mohadin respectively. According to information, the police were on routine patrol when they searched the suspects along Promosa road.

The police were still searching one of the suspects when the other ran away and a chase ensued.  It is alleged that one of the suspects fired a shot at police, and back-up was mobilised, that led to the apprehension of one of the suspects who had a firearm in his possession. The second suspect was arrested at Mohadin. Preliminary investigation has linked both suspects to a case of house robbery that happened at the beginning of this month in Potchefstroom to put perpetrators behind bars. She said that the operations will continue to ensure safety.
