BOPHELONG. – Mpho Radebe (20) from Bophelong is a young man on a mission to make a name for himself in tennis. In an exclusive interview with Sedibeng Ster Sport, Radebe said that his dream is to become a professional tennis player.
In a heart-to-heart interview Radebe is worried that his poor background may be his only obstacle. He started to fall in love with the sport at a young age, coached by Mohau Mtambo when he was still attending Ikokobetseng Primary School. Radebe told Sedibeng Ster Sport that tennis is one of the most expensive sports and that sometimes it is difficult for him to buy its equipment.
Radebe visited Sedibeng Ster offices to show some of his achievements such as the medals and trophies he won recently. “Tennis is my love and I want to see myself playing on a bigger stage. My mother passed away and I’m on my own now. But I believe that if I can get sponsorship I will realise my dream. I train very hard and even though I know there is little opportunity for me, I won’t give up. I don’t want to end up in crime like many of my friends. I know it is difficult but I will remain focused until I get help,” he said.
