A man, believed to be in his 20s, was killed last night after he was hit by a bakkie on the R57 in Vanderbijlpark. ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene after 22h00 last night and found the body of a man lying in the middle of the off-ramp. The bakkie, which had sustained a large amount of damage in the collision, was found parked on the side of the road.
On assessment of the pedestrian, paramedics found that the man had sustained numerous, fatal injuries. Unfortunately, nothing more could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene. The driver was assessed and found to have escaped injury, although he was visible shaken. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
