John Moodey MPL DA Gauteng Provincial Leader writes:

The DA win in the recent by-election shows momentum as 2016 approaches, I am proud to announce that, last month, the DA successfully defended its position in the Emfuleni Ward 5 by-election, which was held following the former DA councillor’s resignation. DA candidate, Phillip Nothnagel won the Ward by a landslide with an increased majority – bringing the DA’s share of the vote to 98.05% from 85.46%.

The African National Congress (ANC) by contrast saw their share of the vote drop from 6.16% to 1.95%. The people of Emfuleni have emphatically renounced an ANC government that has become increasingly synonymous with poor service delivery, corruption of the state and general disregard for the hardships and daily struggles of ordinary hard-working South Africans. Success in local elections has served the DA well in the past, and has proven to be a springboard for the party.

We must therefore continue to work hard in areas and communities where we have managed to gain a foothold and continue to build up our majorities as done in this latest by-election. The DA will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that it delivers the best possible services for all the people wherever it governs, as it sets about building a society that is anchored by freedom, fairness and opportunity.

I would like to thank all our supporters for coming out in their numbers.
