THE BARRAGE. – The Barrage spokesperson, warrant officer Simon Mofokatsane has urged members of the community to be on the lookout for suspicious people in their surroundings. This comes after four white males were arrested for housebreaking and theft after police received information of a possible housebreaking on plot 7 Mirraval.
“Following the tip-off, the police task team rushed to the plot where they saw a vehicle parked behind a tree with its lights still on. They went past the car and parked the vehicle nearby and walked behind the bush opposite where the suspect’s car had been parked and observed the situation.”
Mofokatsane states that the officers heard sounds as though stuff was being loaded into the car, subsequently hearing the car doors closing and saw the vehicle driving off in the Vanderbijlpark direction. The officers followed the vehicle and stopped it at Barrage Rasticana T-junction. The four occupants were then asked to get out of the car.
“The car was searched and electrical tools were found inside. The owner of the plot was then called to identify the tools. He confirmed that the property belonged to him, adding that the only way the suspects could have entered his house was by breaking in as his house was locked. The four were arrested and have since made an appearance at the Vanderbijlpark magistrate court.”
