Schools championship presents some great squash

This year 64 players representing six schools participated in the annual Vaal Triangle Schools Squash Championships

VANDERBIJLPARK. – This year 64 players representing six schools participated in the annual Vaal Triangle Schools Squash Championships.

The tournament was played over six weeks and enthusiasm was high, games competitive

and the standard much improved since last year.

The final, a repeat of last year, was played between Markus Venter (Driehoek) and Andrich de Ridder (Transvalia) with Markus emerging as the champion after three tough games.

The Best Lady was Madjone Engelbrecht (Driehoek) who finished third overall (also a repeat of last year) with Kyla Hartzenberg (Driehoek), the Ladies Runner-up and fourth overall.

Other prize winners were:

Pool A Plate Winner – Gerrit Coetzer (Transvalia), Plate Runner-up – Jean-Pierre Marais (Sasol High), Pool B winner – Venuschka Kloppers (Driehoek), Runner-up – Michael Janse van Rensburg (HTS), Pool B Plate Winner – Lourens Maritz (Driehoek), Plate Runner-up – Jaycee Pretorius (Gymnasium).
