Dennis East’s new album a summary of his lustrous career
Dennis East still performs with professional greatness, beautiful voice clarity, and an emotive easiness that sooths

Veteran musician, singer, performer, songwriter and renowned producer Dennis East’s lustrous career spans over 50 years.
As a living Music Legend, this Durban-born artist had numerous Number One hits in the Seventies – including A Rose Has To Die, and his biggest ever, A Million Drums. His talent was recognized with various prestigious awards, including Billboard’s Album of the Week; a feat that is mostly reserved for international artists.
He is the creative force – as recording engineer and producer – behind most South African, and even international artists’ success.
Recently, he signed a recording contract with IBE, and recorded a brand-new album, Driving my Life Away, with fourteen tracks; modernly updated and remixed. The album features hits such as the timeless rock anthem Dammit I Love You and Genevieve, penned by himself. This song won The Chilean Song Festival in 1988, and was placed second worldwide.
Dennis, known as a musical gentleman in the industry, says: “I have spent most of my singing career on the road and travelling around the word, from town to town, city to city. This is a collection of songs I have had the pleasure of performing along the way.”
These memories include classical standards such as Unchained Melody, Born To Be Wild and Have You Ever Seen The Rain?
Amongst the highlights, is the title track, Driving My Heart Away, never been recorded by Dennis before.
Dennis still performs with professional greatness, beautiful voice clarity, and an emotive easiness that sooths.
Enjoy a collection of timeless hits in various musical genres: rock n’ roll, pop, country, and easy-listening smooth and power ballads. The album portrays the work of a real super star, untouched by time and fame. Enjoy the memories and create new moments to treasure.
