Gugliemi sets new record

VANDERBIJLPARK. – Massimo Gugliemi on Saturday 19 January claimed the honours in the 80km men’s feature race at the annual Century Electrical Cycle Race in Vanderbijlpark. He completed the race in 1:48:15 to beat last year’s winner Matthys Koekemoer (1:48:30) and Pieter Avenant (1:48:30).The women’s event was won by Elaine Saaiman in 2:04:37. She was followed by Mariske Mclean (2:04:38) and Nina Long (2:04:41).Rudolph Pretorius led the 40km men’s race home in 0:59:40 ahead of Rudie Oosthuizen (0:59:41) and Quinten Pretorius (0:59:46). The women’s title went to Elista Malhou when she finished in 1:00:21. Mane Mosreni (1:04:46) came in second with Anne Lemmen (1:04:48) rounding out the podium.
