R57 – Pedestrian left seriously injured

SASOLBURG. – A man, believed to be in his 20s, left seriously injured this morning 3 June when he was knocked over by a light motor vehicle on the R57 between Vaalpark and Vanderbijlpark.

ER24 personnel arrived on the scene shortly before 0:00 to find the man lying in the road next to his bicycle. The vehicle that had struck the man was parked a short distance away.

Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a serious condition. The man was treated for his injuries and provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to Metsaholo Provincial Hospital for further care. The driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately escaped injury.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
