Vosloo and Motaung reign supreme

VANDERBIJLPARK. – Thabo Motaung and Renata Vosloo emerged as the King and Queen of the Vaal River City Marathon 2019.
Motaung of Scaw Harriers AC fought tooth and nail on Sunday morning to fend off a huge surge from Charles Nkuku (2:26:12: Entsika) to win the 42.2km marathon in blistering time of 2:26:04.
Thomas Ndlovu of the South African National Defence force followed their charge to third in a time of 2:27:26.
The women’s race was a total blowout with Renata Vosloo (2:51:03: Massmart Athletics Club) annihilating the field to cross the finishline first, nine minutes ahead of her closest rival Estie Steyn (3:08:29: Runzone AC).
The 21.1km race for men was also a closely contested aff

air with Sibeko Lewobonele (Quite Cool: 1:06:02), Lucky Nkasi (1:06:33) and Phillimon Mathiba (Nedbank Running Club: 1:06:54) claiming the podium positions.
The women’s race also produced excellent long distance running with Moleboheng Mofokeng (ADT AC: 1:24:47), Jeannie Jordaan (Wanderers AC: 1:25:14) and Holly Thomas (Edenvale Rand Road Warriors: 1:28:25) providing each other stiff competition.
