This was after they beat Taks Football Academy 3-0 in the final, played at Clahpham High School over the weekend. It was an encouraging performance for the local boys dominating the proceeding from the first whistle. The score is not the true reflection of the game – it could have been worse if the NWU Vaal u/14 Squad strikers converted the chances they created, especially in the first half.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport after the game NWU Vaal Football Manager, Thomas Thema, said it was an encouraging performance for the local
boys. He said the aim was to give the youngsters a platform to showcase their talent and to make it more interesting, some of the youngsters have been invited to trials with Mamelodi Sundowns Football Development.
“We as an institution are pleased with our contribution to the community and I have no doubt that some of those boys will go all the way to make
a career out of football and play for some of the biggest team in this country. This project was to give these youngsters a chance to play against the
best development teams in Gauteng,” he concluded. Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns u/12 beat NWU Vaal 1-0 in an exciting friendly match played
