Green barcoded ID books being discontinued?
Following a post of a sign allegedly put up at a Home Affairs branch in Upington announcing that green ID books would be discontinued from 1 April 2020 and citizens have to replace them with Smart ID cards, the Department of Home Affairs has taken to Twitter to quash the rumour.
South Africans who are still using the old green barcoded ID books can continue using it as a post announcing that the Department of Home Affairs is discontinuing it is false.
