The South African Post Office has suspended mail to and from countires in Asia affected by the Coronavirus

Due to challenges posed by the outbreak of Covid-19 the South African Post Office (SAPO) has advised its clients that it cannot accept mail destined to various countries in the Far East.

According to SAPO the affected countries are:

– China

– Malaysia

– Indonesia

– Taiwan

– South Korea

– Sri Lanka

– Vietnam

– Bangladesh and

– Kuala Lumpur

According to the statement mail to Hong Kong is not affected.

“The airline carriers currently used by the SA Post Office for transport to and from these countries are unable to uplift mail due to challenges caused by the Coronavirus pandemic,” Johan Kruger of SAPO said.

As a result, mail from these countries meant for South Africa will also be delayed.

“The Post Office will resume services once suitable arrangements have been made with different airlines and would like to apologise for the inconvenience,” Kruger said.
