
It is said that the victim had just finished putting with her shopping in her car at Spar, in Walkerville, and about to drive home when she suddenly saw an unknown male on her window with a pistol ordering her to open the window. As she had opened the window this man then opened the door and got into the victim’s car and ordered her to drive. Police Spokesperson, Warrant Officer Tshegofatso Maliehe said that the victim said that the suspect took her to a place unknown to her where he forcefully raped and robbed her.

“The following afternoon Sergeant Mohau Mothupi together with his two crew members, Sergeant Thembisa Sithole and Constable Widney Serudu, whilst doing patrols, received information from one of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) members that the suspect was spotted at Spar in Walkerville, again. They responded swiftly to the information and arrested the suspect and started with preliminary investigation and proceeded to the suspect place of residence where he showed them his bedroom. The bedroom was searched and the victim’s belongings and bank card were found hidden in the suspect’s bedroom.”

The suspect was arrested and charged with rape and will appear at the Vereeniging Magistrate court soon.
The De Deur station Commander commended members for a swift response to the information and also applauded her CPF members for always working together with SAPS in ensuring that the De Deur area is safe for all.
