Mazibuko arrived at Vereeniging Wednesday morning, joined by Gauteng Health care workers, Gauteng Traffic Police officers and community patrollers.
In one of the shops Mazibuko discovered frozen meat.

“We have discovered expired frozen meat at another shop in Vereeniging. The shop doesn’t comply with the #COVID19 lockdown regulations, no social distancing and the place must be decontaminated since it’s very dirty.”

At another shop the team discovered rotten fruit juices.
“All these fruit juices are rotten to the core. This shop based in Vereeniging is not complying with maintenance of food security standards.”
At Boxer Store team found expired meat.

“The health and safety of our citizens is paramount. We cannot allow our people to be subjected to such acts of criminality, selling our people expired food products must come to an end now.”
Commenting on the discoveries a concerned Facebook user called for the shops to be shut down for good.
“But you guys don’t close these shops, you take pictures of these rotten items and write nice long paragraphs on social media then the following day those businesses are back in business. It ends up serving no purpose, shut them down for good. We acknowledge the good job that you are doing however seal it on a high note by shutting such businesses down.”
