VANDERBIJLPARK. – The CW 6 Neighbourhood Community Watch has had enough of living in fear, terrorised by criminals.
Dalena Willeboordse (secretary) and Jan Labuschagne (deputy chairperson) said they are prepared to take the bull by the horns.
Fighting criminals head-on is something that we are ready for. “Being terrorised in our own yards should be a thing of the past,’ said Labuschagne. “Our lives cannot be ruled by criminals.”
The community, therefore, has decided to stand together against crime. They won’t be taking a back seat in the fight against crime any longer.
“We will now fight fire with fire,” they said.
According to Dalene the situation of the open fields and long grass between some of the houses have been reported to the municipality.
“We are affected by crime and we are waiting for the municipality to come to our rescue.
“We have taken it upon ourself to patrol the streets and fields 24/7.
“The only request we have for the Emfuleni Municipality, is to cut the long grass and fix the streets lights.
“Criminals hide in the dark and in the long grass and makes it unsafe for residents”.
The CW6 Community Watch appeal to business people to assists them with torches and visibility bibs.
