We won’t pay – Ekspa traders

VANDERBIJLPARK- Ekspa-building traders refuse to pay for a month of underground parking.

Some of them have already been billed,

“No way am I going to pay for something I have not received,” protested one woman.

The Van Rijn Plein entrance to the basement parking under Ekspa has been closed for nearly a month for municipal repairs.

Another Ekspa trader said she had already received an account to pay for basement parking. She also indicated she was not going to pay.

Repeated calls to the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) yielded news that ELM did not have cement and could not afford to buy any.

Municipal personnel were initially spotted sitting on unearthed rocks and paving stones in an area sealed off with ‘in progress’ tape.

They then went to wait around a corner where they could not be seen.

Later, they were collected by a municipal truck.

On June 2, repairs were seen being carried out.
