Wynand’s Journey and life with Lissencephaly

On January 07, 2019, Wynand was diagnosed with a rare disease called “Lissencephaly”.

Previsously he was diagnosed with severe Laryngomalacia and asthma. For the past year his medical conditions left me with huge unexpected bills.

 He needs to continue with his Occupational and Speech therapy for the next 3 years.

 He needs care 24 hours a day and suctioning several times a day because he has a tracheostomy.

He is very delayed with all his milestones.

 I am a mother of 3 and really can’t afford all Wynand’s needs on my own.

 I am asking for any help towards Wynand’s needs and medical bills and any help with seating equipment as he is not able to sit on his own.

 Wynand had and has to go for follow ups in Johannesburg and Centurion which is at the moment difficult for us financially because these doctors does not work with Medical aids. We need to pay upfront and then claim back from scheme which they only refund a little. Our car at the moment is also not reliable and is very expensive on fuel. Our medical aid funds are depleted as Wynand’s MRI scan in January 2019 took a huge amount from our day to day savings.
