Weekend crime and successes - 10 February

Seargent Gertrude Makhale, Communication Officer of the Vanderbijlpark SAPD reported that well informed and empowered community is what we, as Vanderbijlpark SAPS, strive towards, as we keep fighting the good fight against crime. Such a well informed community are more alert and detour criminals. The following weekend crime and crime trends were reported.
CRIME IN GENERAL
Crime in general has decreased, but our murders and business breaking have increased.
Housebreaking cases and business breaking
House break in have decreased, although Sector1, Sector3 and Sector5 are the most affected sectors concerning house break in where items such as electric tools, compressor, music system, plasma TV’s, jewelry, computer and clothing were stolen. Garages at residential is a big problem, we are urging our community to really tighten their security.
Business breaking
2 schools were affected in Bophelong and in CW5 where schools were broken into, items such as pots, groceries and snacks were stolen. In NW7 a business was broken into printer and a computer were stolen, in the CBD business was broken into and tools were stolen.
Common robbery
Happened in SE4 the victim was walking alone when he was approached by two (2) suspects who pretended to be issuing pamphlets, threaten the victim and forcefully took his cell phone.
Robbery without a firearm
Happened in Bophelong Ext.6 the victim was approached by 3 suspects one suspect put a knife on the victims neck and robbed the victim his cash and a cell phone, one suspect is known to the victim police are on a look for the suspects.
Robbery aggravating
Happened in CE1 victim was approached by 2 foreign national suspects who pointed him with a firearm robbed the victim a cell phone.
Theft of motor vehicle
White VW Golfs were stolen in the CBD, white Isuzu bakkie in CE2, blue VW Citi Golf stolen in SE1, Gomoto motor cycle and a trailer stolen in CE2.
Theft out of motor vehicle
Car radios, speaker, battery and USB were stolen out of motor vehicles in Bophelong and in CW6.
SUCCESSES
The Vanderbijlpark SAPS managed to arrest a total of 32 people over the weekend for various crimes. 3 illegal shebeen closed, 1 person arrested for driving under the influence and 0 person arrested for drugs.
