Kickstart your singing career

MEYERTON. – The newly appointed conducter of Colla Voce Youth Choir, music teacher, Heidi Schoeman, says it is a great privilege to have been given the opportunity to take over the reigns and lead the Colla Voce Choir into a new era.
Schoeman is a well known musician, music teacher, choir conductor and vocal coach in the Vaal Triangle.
Speaking on the choir, she says, “We have big plans for this choir and we are super excited about the future of Colla Voce. We are planning tours both nationally and internationally for Colla Voce and there are also plans for recording a new CD.”
Schoeman is urging the youth to kick start their singing careers by joining this choir that has been moving from strength to strength for over 30 years.
“We are one of the longest existing youth choirs in South Africa. I am looking forward to working with talented young people, to encourage them, inspire them, teach them and help them to reach musical heights they never expected they could.
Schoeman states that Colla Voce is not only a home and a family, but also a place where one can learn and express yourself.
“There are also opportunities to see the world, as we strive to take annual national and international tours. We often share the stage with other artists and choirs and have built new friendships over several borders.”
“My experience is that in our current educational system, our artistic children are not catered for. If you are an arty child, if you love music, love to sing and need a place to fit in and make new friends, Colla Voce is the place for you.” Schoeman concludes.
Artists like Refentse, Verona, Joshua na die Reën and industry newcomer Dihan, all found Colla Voce a place to kickstart their future careers.
Auditions run during May and June. The new choir year starts in August. Auditions are open to pupils from grade 7 to 12, who have singing experience.
