What many people don’t know is that vitamin C might be good for your cardiovascular health. That is, it might be good for your heart and lungs. What most of us also don’t know is that vitamin C might NOT be as helpful as you think. For example, it may only be mildly helpful against the common cold.
The required dose is two daily cups of fruit and 87% fail to eat the recommended daily allowance. “Fill that gap,” says nutritionist Cynthia Sass, “and you’ll easily take in at least 200 milligrams of vitamin C daily … “
Adequate vitamin C intake helps weight-loss because it helps burn fat but it’s not true that you can’t consume too much. You body does not store vitamin C and excess amounts are excreted through urine. Megadoses have been known to trigger bloating and digestive upset, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, headaches, insomnia and kidney stones. More definitely isn’t better than just the right volume – 2000 mg per day.
